About Me!
I received my Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences in 1996 from University of Texas - Arlington. I have worked in a forensics laboratory, an environmental laboratory and as an environmental manager for the state of Indiana. Although those jobs taught me many things and occasionally had points of great accomplishment, my highlight of my day would be coming home to my pets. Working with animals has been a calling that started very young for me. My sisters bought horses when I was about 10 years old. My oldest sister agreed to buy me a pony provided I could take care for it. I held a paper route and babysat 3 times a week to take care of that pony. I sometimes had to feed the horses before school and muck out the barn after school. It was all worth it. As a child my family also had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and a rabbit. (The horses were my sisters and mine, our parents did not approve). As a junior in college, I was given an iguana that was found out doors. This is was the beginning of my long journey learning of exotic pet care. As an adult I have adopted several animals from bad situations and have some experience with frightened and /or aggressive animals. I also used to volunteer at the Indianapolis Zoo. This allowed me to learn about and handle many species I otherwise would not. So whether it is milking a goat or scraping frozen penguin poop, I am up for the task.
Currently I am pursuing accredidation from Pet Sitters International.
